La mia amica Roberta Maola è una grande artista.
Non solo perché è brava - e lo è davvero, credetemi - ma perché è un'artista della vita e, come pochi, questa stessa vita, la sa raccontare. Nel suo tratto, così pulito, nitido, vero - ancora mi stupisco di come i suoi disegni non siano delle bellissime fotografie - e nella sua sapiente tecnica c'è tutta la forza di un messaggio che ti arriva dritto al cuore e alla mente. Ogni ombra, ogni linea, ogni punto di luce non è mai un esercizio stilistico ma serve a comunicare qualcosa e ogni volta, questo qualcosa, ha tutta la potenza di un racconto di vita vissuta, anche se sovente drammatica: ma nell'espressività dei volti che decide di descrivere (soprattutto donne) o degli oggetti che decide di rappresentare il dramma non è mai compiaciuto di se stesso e il negativo viene ritratto come sovversione, anche in forma paradossale, di quella ricerca di bene che il soggetto, qualunque esso sia, sprigiona e di cui è espressione.
E' coraggiosa Roberta, perché tiene saldamente unite estetica ed etica, intento cosi arduo di questi tempi in tutti i campi, figuriamoci nell'arte e la sua è colma di valori umani essenziali e benefici.
I suoi quadri ti interrogano e ti arricchiscono, ti scioccano con la potenza delicata dell'essenziale e ti accompagnano nella sua stessa comprensione, ti emozionano e ti suggeriscono, ti scoprono e ti avvolgono, ti mettono in crisi e ti fanno migliorare.
Conoscetela, seguitela, appassionatevi.

My friend Roberta Maola is a great artist.
Not only she is exceptionally talented – she is good, believe me – but she is also an artist of life with an uncommon ability to illustrate life. Her clean, spotless, and realistic line – I still get surprised by her drawings that look like beautiful photos – and her wise technique convey a strong message which goes straight to the heart and mind. Shades, lines, and light spots are not stylistic exercises but ways to communicate something with the typical intensity of real life, even if it is often dramatic: however, the drama in the expressiveness of the faces (manly women) or objects represented is never self-complacent and the negative is illustrated as a subversion, also in the form of paradox, of the quest for good expressed and undertaken by all characters. Roberta is brave, aesthetics and ethics are fastened together, which is very uncommon in any field but especially in art, and her art is full of essential and wholesome human values. Her paintings ask questions and elevate the observer, who is shocked by the delicate power of the essential and led to the comprehension of the same, they touch your heart and give suggestions, unveiling and wrapping at the same time, causing distress and improvement.
